Whats the difference between shellac & acrylic nails?

Best Answer:  Acrylic nails are a type of nail enhancement that is a mixture of powder and liquid that hardens on your nail to create a longer nail. If you have short nails and want them longer, acrylic can be applied to your nail and an extension is built onto the edge of your nail.

Shellac is a brand of soak-off gel polish. Gel polish is like nail polish that goes on your natural nail, and is then cured under a UV or LED light, which hardens it and stops it from chipping. You can have a gel-polish manicure that lasts up to three weeks, whereas a normal nail polish manicure will only last a few days to a week without chipping.
There are many different brands of gel-polish. Shellac is just one of them.

As for which is better for your nails, gel-polish is better for your nails than acrylic is.
